The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha was founded by the great visionary, an ardent social worker, Bharat Ratna Dhondo Keshav Karve, founder of India’s first ever women university (which is now known as SNDT Women’s University). The great vision of Maharshi Karve was the empowerment of women through education to make them self-reliant and to bring them into the main stream for the upliftment of the society.

Work of Maharishi Karve  has now blossomed to over 50 units, which are evolved into an educational centre of national and international recognition. some of them are:

The School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) was established in collaboration with the National Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Min. of Textiles, Govt. of India.

SNDT Courses were started in affiliation with SNDT Women’s University Mumbai, an internationally recognized university with five-star N.A.A.C accreditation in the academic year 2000-2001

SOFT is a key initiative in helping to identify young women with professional, managerial, technical & entrepreneurial aspirations, talent and determination & trigger them off to become excellent inspirational leaders in the fashion industry to meet the challenges of industrial competitiveness globally.

Keeping abreast with the latest and ever changing demand for a effective leaders in the field of Fashion World, We offer following autonomous and SNDT Women’s University Programmes :

The courses are designed to make students to strive to excel in understanding & integrating area of Apparel Designing Production Technology & Merchandising & to enable the students in upcoming trends & techniques effectively & introduce efficient systems. It is also an integrated teaching programme covering both theoretical & practical aspects by way of lectures, demonstrations, extensive industry interaction and real life projects. The Students are sent to industry for internship and on job training, they are also required to complete craft documentation.

After the completion of the course the students are well equipped in order to have their own production unit or to work in other organizations to gain exposure to further learn to face the challenges of industrial competitiveness worldwide.
